I’ve just finished watching Good Omens on Amazon Prime. It was a spectacularly fun show. If you love Neil Gaiman and David Tennant, you’re in for a treat. 10/10 would recommend.
I must admit, I was hesitant going in. I hated what Starz did with American Gods. You might say I’m a bit of a book snob, and I loved that Novel. This go around I was new to the story. I never got around to reading Good Omens, however, it’s on the top of my to-do now.
Good Omens is Smart and Snarky
I love good banter, and Good Omens is full of it. David Tennant and Michael Sheen’s roles could not have been better cast. They play an angel (Sheen) and a demon (Tennant) working together to save humanity from the end of days. Their friendship is real, and it’s full of ups and downs. Their ability to deliver witty jokes and connect with the audience make the show absolutely binge worthy. Seriously, I should be sleeping, but I couldn’t stop watching. An apocalyptic comedy has not been so well done since Dogma.
The writing is seriously fantastic. If you’re a fan of slightly dark comedy, you will love this show. Despite the subject matter, the writers managed to keep the story light and entertaining. While I hope they keep this show to one season, because I think it wraps up nicely, they left just enough open to have a second season if the stars align.
The cast did an amazing job as well, and it’s full of big names. John Hamm plays an archangel who is delightfully vengeful. Nick Offerman has a small role as a senator, and Frances McDormand voices the all-mighty. That’s just to name a few. An all-star cast for a show i’ll give 5 stars.
Have you watched Good Omens? Did you love it as much as I did? Let me know in the comments!
