3 Simple Ways to Monetize your Blog

So you’ve started your blog. You’ve bought your hosting package, written a few posts, and now you’re wondering how to start making a profit. It can be overwhelming to get started. There is a lot of information out there on how to monetize, let’s face it this probably isn’t the first article you’ve come across. That’s why I want to make things easy. I’m going to break it down into three simple ways to monetize your blog.

Monetize your Blog with These Three Options

The three main ways to monetize are ads, affiliate marketing, and sponsored posts. Yes, there are other options, but these are the easiest and in my experience the most profitable.

1. Advertisements

Google Adsense is the obvious choice for ads. It’s easy to set up, you can chose your ad placement to find the most unobtrusive, and most profitable, locations for the ads, and it requires very little upkeep on your part. Now you probably won’t see massive returns on day one if you’re new to blogging, but don’t worry, your ad revenue will grow a long with your audience.

If you’re not into Google Adsense, or you’re looking for a second option for ads, you can get started with Adsterra just as easily.

2. Affiliate Marketing to Monetize your Blog

Affiliate marketing is arguably the best way to monetize your blog. You get a percentage of the sale for products you promote on your blog if you’re readers use the link you provide. There are a number of affiliate programs to choose from, but the most common is Amazon Associates.

The thing I like most about Amazon is their wide range of products. It’s great for any niche, no matter how broad or specific, because you can find almost anything on Amazon. You can even get a small commission for providing your readers with some freebies.

If you click the banner above, you can get a free trial for Amazon Fresh – and I earn a small commission, and all I had to do was copy past the code from my Amazon Associates account.

3. Sponsored Posts

Sponsored posts are a great way to get started with monetization. Pick a product that fits you’re niche and write a post to promote it. It sounds simple, and it is, but I bet you’re wondering where to find products you can get paid to promote.

My go to is Intellifluence. Another site that’s simple, and free to sign up for. You just list your blog, and your social profiles (if you want), and they list offers for sponsored posts. Another perk is that many of the products listed for review offer monetary compensation as well as a free product. The pay ranges pretty widely, anywhere from a few dollars and a product to hundreds of dollars. Intellifluence is great because you have a lot of options to chose from, so you can pick products and services that fit within your niche and that will be genuinely beneficial to you readers.

The best part about these sponsored posts is that you still get paid wether or not you make any sales. They are great when you’re first getting started. Just remember to chose products you’re comfortable promoting to your readers, because you want to keep a high level of trust with your audience.

  1. You’ve got some great suggestions here. I’ll throw FOMO in as another easy to set up option for advertising. The best part about FOMO is that you don’t have to wait to reach a minimum amount for payout, they payout every month regardless of the amount via PayPal. Therefore, if your blog is brand new and you’re looking at only making like $5 the first month, that’s okay! You don’t have to wait to hit $100 or whatever.

  2. I’m really loving the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems?
A handful of my blog readers have complained about my website not operating correctly
in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any solutions to help fix this issue?

    1. Thanks! I honestly haven’t run into any issues so far, but I really only ever use chrome. This is a pretty basic free theme. I’d say using a clean simple theme is probably a good way to reduce issues.

    2. Also I checked out your site, and for what it’s worth, it looks beautiful in chrome. I love the design.

  3. Way cool! Some very valid points! I appreciate you writing
this write-up and also the rest of the site is also very
good. I wanted to thank you for this fantastic
read!! I definitely enjoyed every bit of it.
I’ve got you saved as a favorite to look at new things you I’ve been surfing on-line more than three hours as of late,
but I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It’s pretty worth sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all website owners
and bloggers made good content as you probably
did, the web might be much more helpful than ever before.
